Last Friday for Show-and-Tell Emerson took the newest member of her stuffed animal family. This little cute and cuddly puppy is from one of our new favorite stores, IKEA. This was a gift to Emerson for being such a great girl while we closed on a town home in the NoDa area of Charlotte....amazing what a Max and Ruby video will do!! Emerson didn't make a peep the entire time and for that, she was rewarded with one toy of her choosing from the toy section. She chose this adorable puppy, whom we named NoDa. He now sleeps right next to her on her big girl bed...another purchase made along with NoDa that day! (More on the big girl bed coming soon!!)
Another week has passed and we have two more swim lessons under our belt. We are making progress, slowly, but it's still progress. This week's lessons included all the same things that last week's did; splashing, kicking, arms, blowing bubbles, the float belt and jumping with the new addition of floating on their back. Emerson actually did surprising well at this, considering I thought she would freak out. Now, if we can just get her to kick her legs and move her arms at the same time...we might just have a swimmer.
Since Daddy wasn't there this week...Emerson only got a few minutes in the "fun pool" (as she calls it). The "fun pool" is the playing pool, not the lap pool and her lessons are in the lap pool, I guess that would be the "un-fun pool" to Emerson!!
Last Saturday (6/19), after Emerson's dance class, we headed home to get our party dress on for Aurora's Butterfly Birthday Party!!! Kelly, Aurora's mom, was very brave to have nine very silly and crazy girls in her house with their parents, but I do appreciate it, because it was a scorcher that day. Everyone had a great time crafting butterflies, pinning the dot on the butterfly, eating cupcakes, pizza and butterfly sandwiches, opening gifts, marching in the band, and eventually settling down for a moment of QUIET with Tiana and her frog! It was a great party and we were so excited to be invited. Thanks Giovanello family for hosting the perfect butterfly bash!!!

The prize was a very cool butterfly mask.

The impromptu marching band...
I think they went around the house at least 20 times.
Ahh...a moment of silence. Tiana, we parents, bow to you!!
I love this picture of Aurora stealing a moment to herself
This past Saturday was a big day in the Dever Household....it was Emerson's first "official" dance class. You'll remember last weekend we headed to Southeast Dance Supply to pick up Emerson's dancin' shoes. And most of my loyal readers will remember last August, when we did an unofficial dance class that didn't go as expected. Well I am pleased to report Saturday's dance class went great. Emerson had a blast. She stood on her intended star, followed her teacher, laughed, twirled, danced, and most importantly didn't CRY! I think this summer will be a great beginning to Emerson's dance future. It helps a lot that her friends Aurora and Haegan are in the class with her. They will have a blast and you better believe there will be many, MANY more dance pictures to come.
Ready for her first dance class
(can you believe she picked blue over pink)?
Aurora and Emerson...so excited and cutting up before class!
Ready for class to begin!
Mommy snuck shots through the door and on the monitor!
Check out those moves...
The last five minutes of class, they let parents come in to take some pictures...the girls showed off their twirling moves.
What better way to end the perfect Saturday morning dance class than with a "'lil angel" smoothie from Smoothie King.
And as much as I shouldn't show this picture, the story is just too funny to pass up. While eating her smoothie, Emerson poked a hole in the bottom of her cup with her straw. Needless-to-say, the smoothie got all over her ballet outfit. We promptly removed it, as to not cause more of a mess. I told Emerson we needed to go up and get more clothes on so we could run some errands. I asked her to grab her shoes and head upstairs. I walked into the kitchen for a minute and when I turned around, Emerson was gone. I quickly went to see where she was and I found this (picture below) walking down our hallway.....with shoes on!! At least she followed directions and the shoes were even on the right feet. I couldn't resist the picture as tears ran down my face from hysterics!! Emerson turned around to me and said, "Mommy, why are you laughing!" My answer, "'Cause Emerson, you are just too darn cute!!" I still love that chubby butt and legs....still makes her a baby in my book!!!
Emerson decided to take her trusty lion with her for Show-and-Tell on Friday. This adorable pink lion, given to Emerson by the Hamricks (good friends of Mimi and Birdie), sits on Emerson's dresser, next to her sound machine, and wards off all monsters during the night. She watches over Emerson while she sleeps and makes sure no monsters lurk around her room; at least, this is what we tell Emerson!! Friday morning I asked Emerson what the lion's name was and she came back with Pinky. Jokingly, I said, "What about Lily the lion?" She replied, "That's a great idea, Mommy!" So, Lily it was, until about 20 minutes later when we were in the car on the way to school and she said, "Mommy, I want my lion to be named Zoe." So, we still haven't settled on a name for Pinky/Lily/Zoe, but I'm sure one of them will stick one of these days. Or maybe it won't, remember, we ARE living with a toddler and things can change at the drop of a hat or rather, with a lion's ROAR!!
