Swim Lessons 2010: Round 2, Week 1

After a brief hiatus from swim lessons, we started back this past week with another three-week session.  Monday's lesson was much like previous lessons.  They practiced their using their arms, kicking their legs, blowing bubbles, floating on their backs, and of course, jumping in the pool!!  Even though we hadn't been to class in three weeks, Emerson remembered everything and actually showed some improvement.

Mary couldn't make the lesson on Wednesday, so Emerson and her class were tag-team taught by a male and female teacher.  I can honestly say, this was one of the best lessons yet.  The kids had so much more individualized attention when it was 2 teachers to the 3-5 kids, rather than 1 teacher to 5 kids.  They also got to do a lot of new activities, they had never done before.  They were able to hang onto the edge of the pool, climb out on their own, wear a new floating device, and play several new educational games. The best thing the kids learned to do is put their entire face in the water.  Emerson was a bit unsure of this at first, but we have been practicing this week in the bathtub.  It was a great lesson, not that Mary's lessons aren't great, but it just helped to have two teachers.   Hopefully, Emerson got a lot out of the lesson!!  We'll continue with Week 2 this coming week.
