A Winter Wonderland

Um, where did January go?  Has anyone seen it?  Oh yes, I remember!  It went to a crazy first week in which Danny was gone for an entire week to Jacksonville for work, a crazy second week in which I was gone for an entire week to Vegas for work (leaving a day early because of the threat of snow and ice), at least Danny got to meet me in Vegas towards the end of my trip for some much needed "adult fun" (I don't think Danny and I had been on a getaway since our trip to Napa last July.  And now this past week I have been playing catch up everyday, literally have been at my desk every morning at 5:30 am and worked til 9:00 or 10:00 at night.  Whew!!  Oh yes, and not to mention, I leave next week to go to Richmond for a National Sales Meeting and it's Beach Ball time again, so in my free time (not sure that even exists), my nose will be buried in the 2011 Beach Ball Donations excel document from now until April!!  So, needless to say blogging hasn't been, even if I wanted it to be, a priority, but there were some blogs I wanted to get out before January passed us by and I was writing about the fall in February or at the rate I am going, March!!

So, without further ado....

You may remember at the end of my 2010 Christmas Festivities post, I mentioned that as we were leaving Grammy and Papa's house Christmas night, snow started to fall from the sky and had already left a small blanket.  Well, we quickly got in our cars and headed home and the next morning woke up to the most beautiful sight.  Our neighborhood had been engulfed by the most most delicate, soft, powdery snow. And by engulfed, I truly mean engulfed...I'm going to venture to say, at least 6 - 8 inches of snow. There were parts of our back yard, that snow was up to my shins.  It's been a long time since I had seen snow like that.  We don't get much snow in NC and when we do, it's usually really wet snow or even ice.  I remember as a child though, growing up here, we would get 3 - 4 good snow storms a year, with this great play in the snow, make snow cream kind of snow!!  So, I was more than excited to grab my coat and boats and head out in the snow with Emerson and Danny that morning.  (Can you believe some people even headed to the stores to shop that morning?)  Here are some pictures from our romp in the snow:

Emerson insisted on going down her slide....
into a huge pile of snow!!

Snow Angel!!

After our romp in the snow, we headed out to see Grammy and Papa and spend some time with Auntie Di and Uncle Ed before they headed back to Charlotte.  Oh, and to watch the Jaguars game.  On the way there, I took some pictures of the roads.  The roads weren't bad at all and the snow made the scenery just gorgeous.  So glad I have a great camera that will take pictures through a windshield!!
