A Pumpkin Carving Party
Yes, I realize we're halfway through November and I am still getting around to October posts. So much for "catching up" in October, it was more like "keeping up". November is usually a slow month for us, but it is proving to be pretty busy, hence me being super behind in posting. Anyway, I digress...
On October 23rd, we attended a pumpkin carving party hosted by the Kidd Family. Caroline and Emerson used to be in the same daycare, but the Kidds recently moved to Mebane. We still get to see them at Carolina games and Alison and I eat lunch together once-in-awhile. It was great to spend the afternoon catching up and carving pumpkins!! What a cute idea for a party, I might have to steal this one!! Alison and I share the same passion in party planning! Here are some pictures from the party...
A little bit of play and catching up for the girls before carving their pumpkins!
Now the real fun begins....we all picked a pumpkin and began carving!
Daddy had to take over, he was much better at carving than I was.
EWWW!! The not-so-fun part of carving a pumpkin.
You'll notice the kids slowly start to disappear, and the Dads are left to carve the pumpkins...they all did a great job!!
Marshmallow Pumpkin Pop!!
Way to go, Danny...our adorable pumpkin, that we later accessorized and named, Jill-O-Lantern!
Another cute pumpkin...
The Herman girls' (well, Dale's) pumpkins!!
The kids ended the party with some good old-fashioned sidewalk chalk art!!
Thanks to the Kidds for hosting us in their lovely new home. We had a great time!!

Aurora's 4th Birthday
This past Saturday, we attended Aurora's fourth birthday party. Kelly did a great job putting together a unicorn-themed party. The girls decorated tchotchke boxes, ate lunch and cake, played "pin the horn on the unicorn" and even watched a few minutes of their favorite movie, Tangled! It was a nice, relaxing birthday party (at least for those in attendance!). Thank you so much for inviting us, Aurora, we hope you had a wonderful fourth birthday celebration!!

Eating the yummy Chick-Fil-A and Bar-B-Que lunch.

PINK-O-WEEN!!!
For the past seven years, in the month of October, Lineberger Cancer Center has hosted the annual Tickled Pink events, which consisted of a sold-out afternoon luncheon and the evening Tickled Pink at Twilight party. These events were held to raise money for Lineberger Cancer Center's support programs and were tagged pink in conjunction with October's ever popular Breast Cancer Awareness month.
Last year, Lineberger encouraged the entire Town of Chapel Hill to turn the town pink by decorating store fronts, serving pink food, hosting discount days, etc. This year, though, that theme exploded and it really seemed as if the entire town got involved. This year space was limited for the always sold-out luncheon, so the Tickled Pink committee members decided to have small individual events and encouraged others to do the same. There were parties hosted in people's homes, in hotels and even lemonade stands set-up at athletic events. Everyone involved in years past really rolled out the "pink" carpet and put together great individual events.
My friend, Jen, and I also wanted to do something to help raise money for the Tickled Pink events. We decided to host a carnival. We knew there would be lots of opportunities for adults to attend parties, but there hadn't been a party planned for the kids, so PINK-O-WEEN was born!!! I was pretty excited to plan a party, especially since I had been out of event planning for a few months since leaving my job at UNC. Jen is a great party planner, too and it helps that we have the same taste in EVERYTHING!! So not only was it easy to plan, but it was a blast planning with someone who is on my same craft, creative, planning wave.
So away we went, planning and putting together the First Annual PINK-O-WEEN. We secured a date, a place, a time, a bounce house; created an invitation; collected RSVPs; shopped for decorations; crafted ghosts, cakes, and goody bags; thought up games and activity tables; cooked great food; borrowed props; negotiated for pumpkins (thanks, Danny!!); set-up with the help of our wonderful husbands and parents; and threw a great fundraiser for Lineberger Cancer Center that the kids (and hopefully parents) had a blast attending!!
