I Heart Faces | Let Them Be Little

This week's I Heart Faces challenge is all about the little ones.  I came across this picture and it was perfect.  I loved this age and said many times, "Can I just give her a shot, so she can stay this size forever."  This was Emerson's first ballet class (you can read the original post here).  And while I was so excited for her to start classes, she was a bit scared and timid at first.  Okay, maybe more than "a bit"....there were some tears, but that's only because I couldn't go in the room with her.  She held stuffed animal, given to her by the teacher, as tight as she could.  But what a brave girl she turned out to be, she made it through the entire class and is now in her second year of dance.  I will never forget this age, though, and that first dance class!!

Hope on over to this week's challenge to see what others are saying about their little ones!!

I Heart Faces | Hands

I was doing some photo editing the other night and ran across this picture; I thought it would be the perfect entry for this week's I Heart Faces weekly challenge - HANDS!  I love the pre-game ritual of throwing hands into a team huddle and then lifting them up with joy and determination, while these adorable four-year-olds scream, "GO TEAM"!!  Hop on over to the challenge to see all the other amazing HAND entries!!

I Heart Faces: A Touch of Whimsy

I'm participating in the I Heart Faces Photo Challenge this week.  I think every parent, particularly the ones whom photography is their hobby, have those pictures filed away in their heads that are their favorites.  I can certainly say I have a running list and this picture is by far in my top five.  I took this when Emerson was almost 2 1/2 on an unusually warm November day.  It was so fun to play around and get some great shots, but this is one of the best from the day.  Just love, love, love it!!  You can see all the shots on the original blog post at the link below the picture!!  I hope you enjoy my entry and hop on over for the other entries at I Heart Faces to check out how other people interpret "Whimsy".

I Heart Faces: Best Face of 2010

The gals over at I Heart Faces are back this week with a photo challenge.  When I saw the title "Best Face of 2010" I knew the exact picture I wanted to use.  You may remember the original post, My Little Picasso, from back in June.  I have to say, this is one of my favorite pictures from the past year!!  Interesting how just a Saturday morning painting session on the back porch can lend you a great photo!  Check out all the great photo entries this week at the Best Face of 2010 link above and starting Tuesday afternoon, hop on over to I Heart Faces and vote for Emerson's picture as your favorite!!

I Heart Faces: Silhouettes

I waited to the last minute to get this post up.  I wanted to participate in this weeks I Heart Faces Challenge because it was all about Sihouettes.  I love silhouettes (something so southern about them) and I love sihouette photography.  It's always a special moment when you can capture a great moment with a silhouette.  So this weeks entry is a series of silhouettes of Emerson waiting (patiently I might add) to go out in the first snow of 2010 back in January.  She couldn't wait to get her snow suit and boots on and go play.  I just love these pictures...so innocent and sweet.  So, to those of you judging, my entry is actuall the first picture (unless you think it needs to be #2, #3, or #4 - wink, wink).  Enjoy!!  And head on over to I Heart Faces: Silhouettes challenge to see all the other amazing work!!

I Heart Faces: Orange

I'm taking a quick break from all the Halloween posts to bring you an orange post of a different kind.  You all know I love I Heart Faces and I have participated in a couple of their photo challenges, but haven't done them in a long time.  When I saw this week's ORANGE challenge I immediately knew the picture I wanted to use.  I just love this picture of Danny and Emerson.  He was the stand-in coach at the game this day and he was giving Emerson some positive reinforcement on a great game played.  Coach (Dad) to Daughter....a moment you can never take away!!  Glad I got it on film!

I Heart Faces: Got to Wear Shades!!

I love the site I Heart Faces.  If you love photography (or even like it) this site is a must visit.  Every week they have a photo challenge and this week I decided to take part in it.  This week's theme is "Got to Wear Shades".  What better entry than a picture of sweet Emerson playing on the beach with the essential accessory, her shades!!  This was taken during our family trip to Topsail Island, NC the week after Christmas 2009.  Although it was chilly and there was no swimming in the ocean, Emerson still had a great time and looked cool doing it, with her shades on!!  Who knows, maybe this will become another weekly series, or at least a series to participate in every now-and-then.  Enjoy and go check out the site, at the link above, to see all the other great shots from this week!!!
