A Tar Heel Family Outing!!

Continuing my blog posts from last weekend....After our busy morning at Reagan's birthday party and then a soccer game (more on that later), we headed home for a quick change into our UNC attire to head to the UNC vs. ECU football game (10/2/10).

We were supposed to meet our friends, the Hermans, there and mill around Tar Heel Town a bit before heading to the 3:30 kick-off.  But we were running a little late and they had done most of Tar Heel Town, so instead we met them under the Bell Tower for some fun.

Emerson was very excited to see Ivie and Macie and to cheer on the Heels!!

Love this picture of the Bell Tower, just wish the people weren't at the top.
(playing around with sunflare in this picture)

Our little Tar Heel, all decked out for the game...and all smiles considering it was going to be
a "no nap" Saturday!!

I love this picture of Emerson and Macie, it completely captures the girls' personalities, silliness, friendship, and bond!!

All three of the girls, as Amy put it, are pretty impossible to get a great shot of, but our quest continues and I know Amy and I are determined to one day get that winning shot!!

A quick lemonade break!!

Emerson really wanted to get her face painted like Ivie's, but when it came time to sit in the chair, she wasn't having any of it.  So she opted for the Tar Heel on her hand instead.  I still love her little wrists that are losing their baby fat so quickly...ahh, she is growing up so fast!! (TEAR)

After the bell tower fun, the Hermans headed back to their car, as the Herman girls were all headed home for a nap.  Danny, Emerson and I headed towards the gate to grab our seats and enjoy some people watching before the game.

Emerson loved watching all the pre-game excitement.  She immediately picked out the cheerleaders and stated, "they are dressed just like me, Mommy!" She had a great time chanting TAR, HEEL, TAR, HEEL; shaking her pom pom; and dancing to the pre-game band music.

Go Heels!!

TAR.....
(can't you just see her saying it in this picture!!)

Here come those Tar Heels!!!

The fireworks were a bit loud!!

About five minutes into the game, maybe even three, Emerson decided she was bored and begged to play the matching game (her new favorite game) on Danny's IPhone!!  When she was bored with that, she got a major case of the wiggles, but luckily she had three laps to go between; mine, Danny's and Birdie's.

She spent a fair amount of the first half on Birdie's lap, playing with his sunglasses and wondering what he was yelling at the whole time (if you know my dad, you know he is very vocal at Tar Heel games).

Birdie's sunglasses kept Emerson occupied for awhile, even when she should have been cheering!!!

Back to paying attention to the game!!

One of my favorite shots of the day...I am sure this was a special moment for Birdie, his two favorite loves Emerson and the Tar Heels!!

Back to her seat, a pretzel was surely going to be the cure for the second quarter jitters!!

That didn't last long, Emerson was back out of her seat, but this time it was for all the right reasons...to cheer her Tar Heels on!!

Although we only lasted for the first half of the game, it was a good thing we left when we did.  We were losing when we left, but by the end of the 4th quarter, the Tar Heels pulled out a big win.  What a great day, the weather was perfect, the Tar Heels won, and I got to spend a few hours with three of my favorite people.

Go Heels!!

Reagan's Princess Birthday!!

Last weekend was a VERY busy weekend for the Dever family.  We had two birthdays, a soccer game, and a football game.  So in an attempt to get all the blogs done from last weekend, I am going to make them short and sweet.

We started the weekend with a 9:30 am birthday for Reagan, Emerson's friend from daycare and dance.  Her mom was smart by hosting a morning birthday party, and even better by having it at a Chick-Fil-A.

The Birthday Girl, Miss Reagan!!

The girls all loved their Chick-Fil-A breakfast meal of mini chicken sandwiches, hash browns, and juice. The parents were pretty stoked about the mini chicken sandwiches, too!!!

The Chick-Fil-A cow surprised everyone when he made an appearance.  Some kids were very happy to see him and some (ahem, one in particular whose name is Emerson) were not so happy.  For some reason, Emerson has never liked that cow!!

The Princess Cake

Reagan did a great job blowing out her candles.  She was so proud of herself!!

Time to eat some cake (and Chick-Fil-A ice cream).  Emerson ate every last bite of both her cake and ice cream...I guess it's good we had a soccer game afterwards, so she could work off some of that sugar.

After cake and ice cream, it was time to play.  All the kids had a great time playing in the play place.  They were all smiles until it was time to go.

After the party, we were off to a soccer game and then Tar Heel Town and a football game....Whew!! Good thing there was breakfast and cake, we needed the energy for the rest of the busy day.

Thank you for inviting us to your very special day Reagan, we had a blast!!!

First Day of Preschool

I am still trying to get caught up on my blogs from September..ugh, I hate being behind.

Since we've talked about Preschool Orientation and Emerson's special haircut for school, it's only fitting that we continue our journey and talk about her first day at preschool.  On September 8th, Emerson started her new preschool. There were no tears by Mommy, I'm an old pro at leaving her at school.  But, I could see how this would have been a very difficult day for the mommies that have been home with their little ones up until that day.  I was more worried about leaving her for two days while I headed to Richmond to start my new job.

Emerson was super excited about her new school and her new friends.  That morning she actually ate breakfast with her bookbag on!  After breakfast, we got the typical "first day of school" photos and to my amazement, Emerson cooperated...maybe we are finally past the "cheesy smile" phase.

I love these next three pictures...Emerson was such a little ham that day!!

Once we got to school, we headed straight to the Frogs classroom.  We washed our hands, put Emerson's bookbag in her cubby, put on her name tag, answered the "Question of the Day", checked out the days activities on the schedule, and greeted Ms. Tara.

It was so great that Emerson had a friend from daycare to go through this journey with her.  Emerson loves Haegan and they took a quick second that morning to pose for my camera, then it was off to play with some Play-Doh!!

I love this sticker...I certainly hugged Emerson extra tight that day.  Once for good luck and twice because I love her and it would be a few days until I saw her again.  This sticker is a great reminder on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, not that I need much reminding...Emerson is reminder enough that I need to hold her tight EVERYDAY!!!

Emerson, Daddy and I wish you all the best this year at preschool...we know you will excel beyond our expectations!!!
We love you!!
